Eksperimento eigoje dėl nestabilių junginių ir nenumatyto reaktyvo SK-15, susijungimo metu temperatūra tapo nekontroliuojama ir termo stiklas jo neatlaikęs sprogo. Pasekoje įvyko biologinio viruso nuotėkis. Tikėtina kad viruso gyvavimo laikas, iki 7 parų, ir uždara Zonos teritorija pati susitvarkys su virusu ir jo pasklidimas už Zonos ribų minimalus.
